From Executive Producer Jourdan Sebastian: "We, at Panoramanila Pictures believe it’s time that the Philippines be seen for what it ALSO is"

Below is a speech that I delivered in Meralco Theater for the Philippines Gala Premiere of "PLONING". The event was attended by dignitaries, artists, government officials and friends. The words below basically, state the purest and most honest intention of why we went on to produce "Ploning"

"To our honorable guests and esteemed collaborators, good evening!

For good or bad, film is the most powerful medium in presenting the image of a country. How a country is presented in the world of cinema is how people all over the world will come to perceive that particular country… whether its fact or fiction... whether in the consciousness or subconsiousness. As an art form film never had that intention. But as a medium it beholds that responsibility.

Lately, it is admirable how Filipino filmmakers are receiving raves and recognition in international film festival circuits. Filipino films are not only winning international awards, they are also being seen by people all over the world.

But what are the people of the world seeing of the Philippines?

What kind of image of a people is being presented to the world?

We, at Panoramanila Pictures believe it’s time that the Philippines be seen for what it ALSO is.

The Philippines is a blessed nation. The Filipinos are beautiful people.

I want to use this opportunity to thank the whole Palawan province, the people and its government for truly partnering with us in coming up with this dream film project.

They welcomed us to use their land, resources and more importantly their culture to be a palette for our filmmakers.

I also want to thank our investors and collaborators who have continued to believe in this faith project. And who with us stepped out in faith to produce a film that showcases not only the excellence and creativity of the Filipino people but more importantly believes with us that even against much odds, God provides mightily for endeavors that bring Glory and Honor to His Name.

Mga Kababayan, Mga Kapwa Pilipino,
Inaalay po namin ang lahat ng ito sa ating Panginoon na walang hintong pagpapala sa ating bansa

At inaalay rin po naming ito sa mga kapatid nating mga Pilipino… naninirahan dito o sa ibang bansa… na sana hindi pa nakakalimut sa Kanyang mga biyaya.

Mga kaibigan, mga kapatid, sana magustuhan po ninyo ang aming pelikula na inihahandog naming sa inyo ng unang pagkakataon na nasa English Subtitles. Naway maibigin ninyo si "Ploning."
